Bentley New Village Primary School

Bentley New Village is a two form entry primary school in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. They have 280 pupils and are rated Good by Ofsted.

This web design project involved taking the existing school website, redesigning it, building it, and providing ongoing support.

Designing the Website

Design is our favourite part of the process. We worked with the school to get a feel for their culture and then we used our expertise to reflect this in our design.

The purpose of the website was to communicate with teachers and parents. We made sure that our design enhanced this content without getting in the way.

We chose to use photography to show the spirit of the school, spending a day in school taking a range of dynamic and professional photos to bring life to the content.

How Do We Build Your Site?

Planning

We start with the planning. We want you to have the design, features, feel that you want. This means I started with a meeting, and a look around the school, so I knew exactly how I wanted the website to feel.

Design

We then move onto the design. I started with a rough outline of what I wanted to achieve. I used wireframes and fleshed out with design. I went in to take photographs to give the site a great flavour of the school.

Development

Once the design has been agreed we move onto the development section. At this stage the site started to come together, with all domain names and hosting sorted, there was nothing for the school to worry about.

Launch

Finally it is the grand reveal and launch on social media. This is where all the work was finalised, all the features of the new site were thoroughly explained, so that the teachers could make the most out of their new site.

Creating the Website

Once the design was finalised, the development process began. We use Wordpress to create websites that are easy to maintain and update.

There was lots of content to add as well as a dynamic calendar so that teachers and parents can keep track of school events and a download section for school policy documents.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is an important part of the process and we always make sure your website ranks well in search results.

Maintenance and Support

Once the website was online, we continued to work with the school to make sure the website runs smoothly, is kept up to date, and is secured with an SSL certificate.

What the School Thought

The school were incredibly impressed with the website and felt it was a vast improvement over the previous site. They especially liked the new features the website gave them, with a integrated calendar that allowed them to populate it with school events. This made keeping parents and other teachers informed on what was going on around school simple and straightforward. The policies were all in one place, something that could was hard to sort on previous sites, and made sure that they were compliant with all OFSTED rules and regulations. The header teacher said “It was a pleasure to work with Dan, he understood exactly what was needed, and was there to help at every stage. We especially love the photographs, they really captured the pupils at the school, and made sure it looked like a great place to learn.”

We’d love to work with you so why not get in touch to see how we can help.
